Bossard Library is pleased to offer the Adventure Pass program.
This program will allow patrons with a library card in good standing to borrow a pass from one of five local and regional museums, cultural, or arts centers. Each Adventure Pass will allow the patron to enter the museum or other entity with free admission.
Patrons who are 18 years of age or older can borrow a pass for themselves or a pass for their minor child or children from one participating entity at any given time. All passes are available on a first come, first served basis.
Upon checkout, patrons will receive a voucher that should be presented to the museum or cultural center upon arrival.
Adventure Passes accrue no fines or overdue fees, and will automatically be removed from a patron's card after a period of time. The various Adventure Passes have different expiration dates, depending upon the venue. Please see the participating entities below:
- Ariel Opera House -- 426 Second Avenue, Gallipolis, Ohio
- Patrons can borrow an Adventure Pass for an upcoming show at the Ariel Opera House, including performances of the Ohio Valley Symphony.
- Campus Martius Museum -- 601 2nd Street, Marietta, Ohio
- Each Adventure Pass will admit one patron to the museum and will expire at the end of the month in which it was borrowed. The Campus Martius Museum serves as a historic site dedicated to preserving and interpreting the first organized American settlement in the Northwest Territory (Marietta, 1788).
- Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens -- 1777 East Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio
- Each pass borrowed from the library will admit up to two adults and six children, ages 18 and under. The pass is valid for one visit and expires seven days after the checkout date. The Franklin Park Conservatory features indoor and outdoor gardens, exhibitions, artwork, and more.
- Gallipolis Railroad Freight Station Museum -- 918 Third Avenue, Gallipolis, Ohio
- An Adventure Pass to the Gallipolis Railroad Freight Station Museum will allow one patron to visit the museum. Visitors can learn about the rich history of the regional railway system through a variety of railroad artifacts and railroad cars.
- Huntington Museum of Art -- 2033 McCoy Road, Huntington, West Virginia
- Passes to the Huntington Museum of Art are valid for one visit and expire seven days after checkout. In addition to displaying objects of art, the museum also maintains a plant conservatory and nature trails.
- Mighty Children's Museum -- 21 East 4th Street, Chillicothe, Ohio
- Adventure Passes are valid for one visit to the Mighty Children's Museum for up to two adults and all household children, grandchildren. Pass expires three days after checkout.
- Our House Tavern Museum -- 432 First Avenue, Gallipolis, Ohio
- Each Adventure Pass will admit one patron to the museum and will expire at the end of the month in which it was borrowed. The Our House Tavern is a restored 1819 tavern that hosted General Lafayette when he visited Gallipolis in 1825.
- Point Pleasant River Museum and Lakin Ray Cook Learning Center -- 28 Main Street, Point Pleasant, West Virginia
- Adventure Passes are valid for one visit to the Point Pleasant River Museum. The museum focuses on river life and commercial enterprise on the Ohio and Kanawha Rivers.
Additional participating museums, cultural centers, or similar venues may be added at a later date.
